Another 18 inches of snow last night with significant blowing. The chain link fence in the backyard is no longer visible and this garden obelisk is now completely buried. Up to six foot drifts this morning required attention beginning about 4:30 A.M., to allow me to get to work. Fortunately the road commision plow came down my rural road by 6:30 (of course, leaving a three foot berm at the end of the drive), otherwise, there would be no leaving the farm. I enjoy watching the show, Life Below Zero on the National Geographic Channel, but this year, I don't think any of the show's families who all live a short distance from the Arctic Circle, have anything on us here in the Western U.P., in terms of inclement weather, predators (wolves, cougars, coyotes, and bear), or the challenges of living in a harsh climate where winter can be in excess of seven months. You probably wouldn't like it here....
