This abandoned homestead was once a part of my farm, which in 1920, was a large Finnish property with multiple homes and stone buildings. The Fall bird migration has been nothing short of spectacular, for those that are in touch with birding. The Juncos have been here for two weeks, many on their way further south for the Winter. White Crowned Sparrows, White Throated Sparrows, Red-Breasted Nuthatch, American Goldfinch, and Hairy Woodpeckers, are ongoing visitors. Will be looking to document the return date of the Common Redpoll from the Arctic, which provided much entertainment and photographic opportunity at a window feeder last winter. Today, the snowblower gets loaded on the trailer and hauled in for a tune up and readiness for the soon coming snow. Leaves to mulch, deer to feed, and sadly, gardens to begin to cut back.
