First Blizzard of 2014

Our first Western Upper Peninsula blizzard of 2014. Near a foot on the ground and perhaps another on the way. The Toyota RAV4 got a workout on the way home to Rauhallinen Farm from the clinic (I need new tires) and the Ariens snowblower got a workout on the drive, path in the woods to the deer blind, and Benny's outdoor run. I will likely, according to the forecast, have another foot to mess with tomorrow. Fortunately, I have the day off. Thank a veteran tomorrow for our freedom. Northern Lites Backcountry Snowshoes ordered and on the way-just in time. A nice evening to be cozy in a 93 year old stone Finn farmhouse, throw some logs in the wood boiler, sit by the relaxing flame of the pellet stove, and contemplate a winter of snowshoeing, cross country skiing, and ice fishing. Life is good in the Western UP.
