My neighbors, one 40 acre parcel to the West, Pisco's Meat Processing, finished my deer in one day (from Archery Season). Butterfly steaks, round Steaks, 20 lbs. of venison (italian) brats, and a bit of burger. Plenty of room in the basement freezer for a buck from rifle season. They do such a wonderful job and are exceptional people (which makes living in the wilderness of the Western U.P. what it is). Snow this weekend, which will bring about the need to clean out all the perennial beds. As in human relationships, things change, with loss and growth-the seven month cold season is on the doorstep while the stove warms the farm and my dinner warms me. A lovely Friday evening to curl up with a good book by the fire.....
