The perennial gardens at Rauhallinen Farm will begin coming down today, as the 30 degree temps have destroyed much of what is standing, with the exception of Sedum and the Anise Hyssop. Lots of cutting with pruning shears and emptying of the many potted annuals on both porches. Summer is very fleeting in the Northwoods, such that it seems as though it was yesterday that I was building new beds in the front yard at the beginning of Spring. The Juncos continue to pass through on migration south, and today are joined by many beautiful white crowned sparrows, which I get to view only in the Spring and Fall. Time to quit writing and start working now that we are at a balmy 35 degrees this morning.
