I was most fortunate in both undergraduate psychology education, as well as graduate studeies at Western Michigan University, to have exposure to knowledge and ideas from a number of luminaries in their field. During my undergraduate psychology major at WMU during the Vietnam War, then a bastion of behavioral psychology (1970-73), I was able to study under the guidance of Dr. Jack Michael, as well as Dr. Richard Malott. Both were connected to B.F. Skinner, who at that time was still alive and teaching at Harvard. During my first Master's degree at WMU, I was afforded the opportunity to study with Dr. Neil Lamper, a now infamous (and sadly deceased) Gestalt psychologist who was a protoge of Fritz Perls, M.D., the father of modern Gestalt Therapy at that time.
