Left at 0500 and made the 1.5 hour drive to Cornucopia, to photograph the ice caves at the Apostle Island lakeshore on Lake Superior. The terrain is similar to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore in Munising, MI, with colored cliffs and islands. Made about 170 images and hiked about 5 miles on the ice. The downside, due to national news coverage of the caves this year, was dealing with the throng of thousands of intellectually challenged peepers (letting their untamed offspring wander in dangerous crevices), most from some distance away (per license plates). At times, difficult to set up a shot, due to the crowds. Better work than when I visited with my son a month earlier. Using a new Sigma 35mm f/1.4 DG HSM , which has lived up to all the press it has gotten in the last year, as out performing my previously owned Canon EF f/1.4L USM lens. I work better alone with the camera, being able to concentrate on my vision and maintain a state of mindfulenss. There has only been one other person that I have been able to photograph with....
