Nothing Lasts

All we really have is now-

the current moment.

The wise and contemplative

 have mentored with

"be here now"

All our personal history

is, in reality

subject to the vagaries of retrospective analysis

and the perils thereof.

The future proves equally

as unmanageable

and when it arrives

as the current moment

it most often remains

 completely

unrelated to the collective worry

embedded in its anticipation. 

A beautiful, but expired Queen Anne's Lace

can invite the mind

to fuse with the past and depression

or as easily

angst about the unknown but ill predicted future.

Even experiential denial-

refusing to accept this expired life

until the winter snow freezes our fingers and cheeks.

If you are asked what time it is

respond with now.

It is all we ever really have.
