Father-Son Day Trip to the Keweenaw Peninsula

My son, Eric and I, spent a superb Saturday daytripping on the Keweenaw Peninsula. The temperature was a balmy 65F, but cold enough for a morning  jacket. We visited Freda, home of the Champion Stamp Mill ruins (turn of the century copper mining operation), then on to the Quincy Dredge near Lake Linden, lunch at Lindells, a diner and soda fountain built in 1922.  In the afternoon we traveled to Eagle River, Copper Harbor, Brockway Mountain Lookout, and eventually for dinner at the legendary Kaleva Cafe in Hancock. I was saddened to see young Dr. Carter head home early this morning, but he had to get back to finish a few things in his lab at University of Michigan (Biochemistry Department), before we both head back to the work grind on Monday morning.
